Robert T. Criner, president of Criner Remodeling, founded the company in 1977 and has led the company to grow into a successful and profitable business. This year will mark the company’s 39th anniversary. Criner began working for a remodeling contractor in the summer of 1972, when he started his own one-man operation and today the company has a team of 15 professionals in the remodeling industry. Criner is constantly involved in the remodeling industry and the community and has given back in numerous ways both locally and nationally.
He has served in the following organizations:

37 years at Criner Remodeling
Terry Thomas was born in New Jersey but lived most of his life in Newport News, VA. Thomas’s construction career started when he was 19 years old installing shingles. In 1979, Thomas was hired to work at Criner Construction Co., Inc. He transitioned from the field to the office and learned estimating and working with trade contractors. He is a Certified Lead Renovator and a Certified Aging in Place Specialist.
Terry’s interests include reading, mountain hiking, watching sports, and spending time with his family.
10 years at Criner Remodeling
Michael Guinn is a native to the Hampton Roads area and adds more than 20 years of construction experience to the Criner Remodeling team. He began working at the company in 2006 and has performed exceptionally ever since. After his years working in the field, he now enjoys being part of the planning and management team. Michael states, “Criner Remodeling has given me a stable, family-oriented and enjoyable work environment. I take pride in working for a company whose first priority is focused on providing quality products to happy customers.”
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife and three children. In his spare time he enjoys coaching his daughter’s softball team, reading, camping, and fishing.

Ben is a native of Yorktown and a graduate of Tabb High School. He began college at Virginia Tech in the College of Architecture, and finished with a Bachelor of Arts from The College of William and Mary. He also has a Master of Divinity from Duke University. Ben started at Criner over ten years ago. He loves building and design and he loves working with people. His responsibilities at Criner allow him to combine those passions by guiding clients through the process of remodeling their homes. He enjoys balancing the aesthetic concerns of design with the technical concerns aspects of building construction. He is married and has two sons. When he is not at work, he is usually at home enjoying time with his family.

Having grown up in Yorktown, VA, Paul Criner began his construction career at Criner Remodeling. Working at the company has affected his life in many positive ways. Paul says, “I have learned many positive practices that I now use in my everyday life. Every day I learn something new.”
Paul’s favorite part of the job is putting up interior trim. In his free time, Paul enjoys reading, kayaking, and hiking.
2 years at Criner Remodeling
Lisa Stephens was born and raised in upstate New York. She moved to Virginia in 2003. Lisa has 30 years of experience in financial accounting, mostly municipal accounting. She’s also been involved with home construction and remodeling on and off for 30 years.
Lisa is happily married and has 3 sons and three grandchildren. She enjoys the blue skies of Virginia, the beach, and camping.
Erin Moskalski is originally from Virginia Beach and now lives in West Point, VA. A graduate of Christopher Newport University, Erin has over 6 years of professional experience in marketing, including designing promotional materials, online management, advertising, and social media.
In her free time, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband Travis and their young daughter, going to local events, and watching movies.
16 years with Criner Remodeling
Born and raised in Fall River, Massachusetts, Tony Domingos started collecting his construction skills as a young boy whose father was a carpenter. He moved to Virginia in 1992 and has been working for Criner Remodeling since 2000. Over the years, Tony has gathered a lot of experience, especially when it comes to interior work and cabinet fabrication.
Besides interests within the industry, such as woodworking, Tony enjoys NASCAR, drag racing, reading, walking, playing the guitar, and spending time with his lovely Claire.
7 years at Criner Remodeling
Doug Grzeskowiak started learning construction at the age of 14 and grew up in Buffalo, NY. He has over 35 years of experience both in construction and in remodeling. Doug started working at Criner Remodeling in 2009.
His favorite part of his job is watching a job go from rough to finish. Doug’s hobbies include woodworking, fishing, golfing, playing poker, spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up.
Originally from San Diego, CA, Eric Crafton has lived in Virginia since 1984. With over 28 years of experience in the construction business, Eric joined the Criner Remodeling Team in 2014.
In his free time, Eric enjoys working on small wood projects with his three boys, watching and coaching baseball, and fishing.
Chris Chierici is originally from Mt. Holly, NJ, and has lived in Virginia for 24 years. Having begun his construction career in 1986, Chris’s favorite part of the job is looking back at the finished product.
Outside of work, Chris likes working out, biking, and fishing.
Carpenter in Training
Joe Halpin was born in Newport News and raised in Poquoson. After living in Blacksburg and Roanoke for a few years, Joe recently moved back home. Beginning as a helper in 2015, this is Joe’s first experience with professional construction. His favorite part of the job is constantly learning new skills and putting them to use to see a beautiful finished product.
When not at work, Joe enjoys playing guitar, stargazing, tabletop gaming, and kayaking.
