At Criner Remodeling, giving back to the community has always been a core part of our mission. We believe that our work goes beyond remodeling homes—it’s about making a positive impact on the lives of those around us. For over 45 years, we have been actively involved in various community efforts, and one of the most meaningful ways we contribute is through our ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity. This organization’s mission to provide affordable housing aligns perfectly with our values, and we’re proud to support their work in many ways.

Our involvement with Habitat for Humanity has always been a family effort. Paul Criner, our Vice President and Co-Owner, was influenced early on by both his mother, who managed the Newport News ReStore, and his father, Robert Criner, President and Owner, who actively supported Habitat through volunteering and board service. This strong family commitment to Habitat’s mission has become a cornerstone of Criner Remodeling’s community involvement.

Today, our entire team remains committed to supporting Habitat for Humanity in multiple ways. We contribute financially and through hands-on volunteer work. Every remodeling project we complete results in a donation of materials to local ReStores, ensuring that the items removed from homes during renovations can be repurposed for those in need. In addition to these donations, our employees regularly volunteer their time and craftsmanship to support Habitat’s projects, and both Paul and Robert Criner have served on the organization’s board, helping to guide its mission.

One of the highlights of our partnership is our participation in the annual Remodel Blitz projects. These events bring together skilled craftsmen and volunteers to renovate homes for deserving families. It’s a humbling experience to see how our work can directly impact someone’s life by providing them with a safe and comfortable place to live. We have also had the privilege of helping to rehab and set up the Yorktown ReStore, further supporting Habitat’s mission in our region.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue our involvement with Habitat for Humanity. Our team is already preparing for the next Remodel Blitz, and we are eager to roll up our sleeves and get to work. With the need for affordable housing continuing to grow, we are committed to doing our part to help more families achieve the dream of homeownership.

At Criner Remodeling, community involvement is part of our identity. Beyond our work with Habitat for Humanity, we are also engaged with other local organizations, including Seton Manor, a non-profit assisted living facility where Paul serves on the board. These efforts allow us to use our skills and resources to make a difference in people’s lives, and we look forward to continuing this work for many years to come.
