Robert Criner was the first remodeler in the nation to be certified by the National Association of Home Builders as a Graduate Master Remodeler.

The Graduate Master Remodeler (GMR) professional designation is held by a select group of building industry professionals: applicants must have at least 15 years of remodeling experience before they are even eligible to be considered for the designation.

This program is designed to be the master level of the current Certified Graduate Remodeler designation and requires completion of five additional courses, and having an active CGR for five years or active CR (Certified Remodeler) from NARI (National Association Remodeling Industry) for 10 years.

Home owners seek GMRs because they know that these are remodelers who know how to run a successful business, keep up with current design and style trends and listen well to their clients.

Lead can be found in homes built before 1978 and can be very dangerous to our health, especially our children’s health. The EPA has strict regulations for working in pre-1978 homes, and contractors must be Certified Lead Renovators to legally work in these older houses because they are trained to test for and handle lead-contaminated building products safely.  Criner Remodeling is a Certified Lead Renovator.

Robert Criner was the first remodeler in the nation to be certified by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers Council as a Certified Graduate Remodeler. The Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) Program ensures that a remodeler has fulfilled specific educational requirements, and subscribes to a Code of Ethics based upon professional workmanship and customer satisfaction.

The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.

The baby boom generation has many choices as this large population of potential clients for remodelers, builders, contractors and occupational therapists considers where to live – but overwhelmingly, seniors would prefer to stay in their own homes. The CAPS designation offers your potential clients what they need most: reassurance that you’ll help them make the choices that will help them stay in their homes safely and securely.

In addition, the CAPS designation helps you make your clients’ homes more “visitable.” Even if the home owners don’t think they need additional task lighting, grab bars, and other home modifications for their own use, their family members and visitors might. CAPS helps you help your clients make the right choices, and it gives you more security in remodeling market niche that’s continuing to grow in popularity.

The Certified Green Professional™ designation recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green and sustainable building principles into homes— without driving up the cost of construction. The required courses provide a solid background in green building methods, as well as the tools to reach consumers, from the organization leading the charge to provide market-driven green building solutions to the home building industry. CGP coursework is closely aligned with the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard, which includes chapters on energy, water and resource efficiency, indoor environmental quality, lot and site development and home owner education and is the core curriculum for the required CGP classes. There are nearly 3,000 active CGPs in the United States working in all aspects of the high-performance home building and remodeling industry, from contractors and their subs to real estate agents and appraisal experts. – The National Association of Home Buildedrs

The ultimate symbol of the building professional, the Graduate Master Builder (GMB) designation is for experienced veterans only. Before beginning the GMB designation process, you must have the CGB designation or the CGR designation with five years of building experience, or 10 years of building experience and successful completion of three CGB/CGR courses.

GMB courses require additional study, with in-depth instruction geared for experienced building professionals. It’s a significant time commitment, but graduates gain a more complete knowledge of all facets of the home building industry, build a new network of peers across the country, and inform their potential clients of their commitment to the best of home building, customer service and advanced construction techniques.
