Yorktown, Va Whole Home Remodel
While Mike & Sandy Maslowski were patiently awaiting the arrival of their newest grandchild they made the decision to move closer to their family in Yorktown, Virginia. Conveniently they found a home within walking distance of their family but knew immediately that updates would be needed to enjoy their new home. While looking for a remodeler the Maslowskis came across an advertisement for Criner Remodeling in the Running Man Smoke Signal magazine. After meeting with the impeccable sales and design team they were ready to take the plunge and start their project.
The most extensive part of the remodel to their new home was the bump-out addition that included enlarging the master bathroom and walk-in closet. The new master bathroom features a large picture window with textured rain glass. This provides the larger bathroom with ample amounts of natural light while maintaining privacy. The new curbless shower features a seamless linear drain. Also included in the master bathroom was a his and her vanity area with a private toilet and bidet.
As Mike has an affinity for technology and the new home didn’t have a space that he found suitable for his office equipment, Criner Remodeling designed a laundry room/office combo with a distinctive functionality. Every detail was covered in the design plan including airflow for the health of the electronic devices and roll-out cabinets to stow away equipment when the laundry room was in use.
Although the eat-in kitchen layout was usable it was not exactly what the Maslowskis were dreaming of. Updates to the kitchen included an additional pantry, beautifully updated sink, elegant new countertops, and a butler’s pantry. The butler’s pantry is positioned in a space directly next to the eat-in kitchen, this provides extra storage and makes use of a space that would otherwise be unused.
In order to make sure that the entire house had a beautiful flow and matching aesthetic the design team assisted the couple in updating the flooring, lighting, fireplace and the remaining bathrooms throughout the house. As Sandy and Mike have every intention of making this their forever home, Criner Remodeling made sure to meet and exceed all industry standards for universal design.
With the extent of the remodel, there was concern that the schedule could easily go askew and timelines might not be met. Michael and Sandy mentioned in a review that “All the work was very high quality and in no way looks like an addition. Also very pleased with the attention to the schedule.” They also commented that “We have worked with several remodeling companies over the years and working with Criner has been our best experience. They even finished this large project on schedule which is something we have never experienced before.”
